I moved from Los Angeles to DC to pursue a career in politics two years ago and found out that my natural state and politics don't mesh. Since being out here I have gained a long term relationship, no real friends and unemployment. Also a bitter life view!!! [Yay me!] While living in LA I longed for change and beauty. A fresh start. Since existing in DC because there really is no living here!(At least not for me.) I have developed a heighten sense of ethnicity which was not a part of my demeanor in Los Angeles. I had an asshole meter and gaydar. Now I always wonder if the person was rude to me because I am a different ethnic background or just because the vast majority of people here are dicks! (Wannabe intellectuals.) The people I have encountered seem to be really
resistant! to the fact that other people have had different life experiences. So if you say anything to the contrary you are wrong and your life experiences are invalid.
I really miss the autonomy of LA.
